Anna Marie's Tea Review: Blueberry Pine
Site description:
Blueberry Pine is a caffeine free fruit blend originating in Germany. Full of apple pieces, mountain blueberry leaves, mountain blackberry leaves, lemongrass, eucalyptus leaves, blackberry leaves, natural flavorings, pine nuts, mistletoe, aronia berries, and freeze dried whole red currants.
Review:
Upon first steep, it yields a strong blueberry aroma with the sharp acidic, almost lemony, notes of blackberry present. As the tea cools, the sweetness of the blueberry comes out while apple lingers backstage. The pine and eucalyptus notes are barely - if at all - there in scent, but are at the forefront upon sipping. The brew is minty and refreshing, with the faintest level of sweetness. At room temperature, the acidity fades into a smoother red currant finish.
- 1st steep: 212 F for 5 minutes. Used a bit less water than usual in an attempt to get a stronger taste.
- 2nd steep: Just under 212 F for 6-10 minutes (I forgot and left it steeping past the 5 minute timer). Noticeably sweeter on the second cup.
- 3rd steep: 212 F, 8 minutes, half the usual amount of water. If you like tasteless water, this is the perfect tea for you! Not worth a third cup.
